Family Guy fans won't have to wait for the Season 8 DVDs to get a glimpse of the controversial abortion episode. Variety reports that a live table read of the banned episode will happen next Wednesday at Hollywood's Ricardo Montalban Theater in light of the show's recent nomination in the best comedy category.
The episode in question, "Partial Terms of Endearment" is about Lois Griffin being a surrogate mother who becomes faced with the decision of whether or not to keep the baby after she discovers the parents are killed in a car crash. Nothing is said about Lois's decision until the final scene when Peter Griffin sticks his head at the bottom of the screen and announces, "She had an abortion."
Subtlety is not Seth McFarlane's forte but this proved to be too much for FOX execs who has sparked much chatter around TV circles after they decided to ban the episode from airing on the network.
Brian runs over dog? Peter has an affair with a cardboard cut-out? Meg goes to jail? An abortion episode too edgy to air? These are just some of the crazy plotlines revealed at Comic-con 2009 for the upcoming season 8 of the Emmy-nominated comedy series, Family Guy. Seth MacFarlene, Mila Kunis and Seth Green were among the Family Guy contingent to speak on the panel on July 25, 2009. For more details check out the semi-live blog of the day.
It all started with a chicken giving Peter an expired coupon, which then became an epic feud between Peter and Ernie the Chicken spanning 7 years and 3 episodes. Each time the fight happens randomly, usually when Peter is mid-sentence. Peter always walks away bruised and battered but slips back to what his was doing, while Ernie is on the floor looking defeated but... he opens one eyelid. There was a glimmer of hope when the two tried to settle their differences over dinner, until they couldn't agree who should pay the check.
According to wikipedia, Ernie the Chicken will appear again in the premiere episode of Season 8, "Something, Something Something, Dark Side".
